Millbrook Farms came into existence in 1977 when we lived in Traverse City,
Michigan. We owned two Thoroughbred stallions, one of whom was also
Canadian Sport Horse approved, and a number of mares. We were an active
breeding farm for many years, standing our stallions at stud and breeding our
own mares. Our current broodmare, Annie, was by our stallion French Jab,
and is the last of our breeding line -- unless we decide to keep Wren and breed
her.
Jack, our pinto gelding, is now three years old and will be going away
"to camp" soon to be broke. Standing 17.2 hands at three years
of age, and being extremely athletic, somehow we think the Jumper division might
be what he is best suited for! He is by the noted Dutch Warmblood stallion
Art Deco, in Virginia, who has produced many fine dressage, event and jumper
prospects.
Wren turned 2 years of age in May of 2001 and was a huge 17 hands and 1/2
inch. She is currently a "frosted" bay in color as she is taking
her time turning gray. She is by the Trakehner stallion Abdullah, who some
of you may remember as having earned an Olympic Gold medal, an Olympic Silver
medal, and the title of World Show Jumping Champion in the 1980's. He
began his career as a dressage horse, moved to the world of Three-Day Eventing,
and finally became a Jumper. He retired sound and passed away in December
of 1999 at 30+ years of age. We expect great things from his daughter,
Wren.
Limerick, another Pinto Dutch Warmblood X Thoroughbred, rounds out our
herd. He is 17 hands tall and is 16 years old. In his youth he
managed to finish 2nd in the Canadian Pony Club Eventing Nationals, and even
completed the cross country course at the Kentucky Horse Park. He is occasionally pressed into service for a trail ride or a pony ride for our
grandchildren, but spends the majority of his time "training" our two
young horses.
